What’s Your Passion?

Business opportunities abound, but not all business opportunities winnipeg are created equal. To separate the wheat from the chaff, here are some points offered up to help you determine if you’re looking at an opportunity that might work for you.

Know Your Passion

Do you know what lights your fire, what you could see yourself doing five years from now? If so, you are one of the fortunate ones. If you don’t know, consider your answers to these questions:

  • Who do you envy for what they do?
  • What would you do if money were no object?
  • Visualize yourself waking up from a good night’s sleep and jumping out of bed, full of enthusiasm for what the day will bring. The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting. Where are you going and what are you doing?

As Steve Jobs is supposed to have said, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

Look at Trends in Your Industry

Research trends in an industry that excites you. Where has it been and where is it going? Read industry publications, sign up for email newsletters, and follow experts on social media. Get educated.

Observe Competitors Doing What You Want to Do

What are your potential competitors doing to establish their brand and make their mark? What would you do differently? What would you do the same?

Listen to Customers

Listen to what customers say about the industry, its products and/or services. What are they excited about and grateful for? What turns them off? Why do customers choose one competitor over another?

It stands to reason that your chances of success increase if you love what you’re doing. On the other hand, chances of success go down if you don’t. Finding your passion may seem like trite advice, but it’s no less true.
